Biography

U2 are an Irish rock band from Dublin formed in 1976.

U2’s early sound was rooted in post-punk but eventually grew to incorporate influences from many genres of popular music. Throughout the group’s musical pursuits, they have maintained a sound built on melodic instrumentals. Their lyrics, often embellished with spiritual imagery, focus on personal themes and sociopolitical concerns.

The October Tour was a concert tour by U2 that took place in 1981 and 1982 to support the band’s second studio album, October, which was released in October 1981.

An early demonstration of why they were such an electrifying live band, recorded less than a month after the release of their second album, October (1981). All songs except for « The Cry » and « 11 O’Clock Tick Tock » were drawn from the albums, Boy (1980) and October (1981).

Bono and Adam Clayton were 21, and both The Edge and Larry Mullen had just turned 20.

The October Tour: Live at Rockpalast ’81 concert video was recorded and filmed on the 4th November 1981 at the Metropol in Berlin, Germany, for the German TV show Rockpalast and broadcast in March 1982.
