New production by Palazzetto Bru Zane
Palazzetto Bru Zane, centre de musique romantique française (“centre for French romantic music”) in Venice is a French-administered cultural institution, research centre and concert hall, founded on 3 October 2009.

The centre is based in the Palazzetto Bru Zane (Italia), an annex to the Palazzo Zane Collalto (Italia) in the San Polo area of Venice, on the Rio Marin (France). The palace was restored for the centre, and the centre funded, by the Fondation Bru.

Piece by the “mad” composer
One of Hervé’s most successful opéra-bouffe, it debuted in 1866 at Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens and skilfully mocks the heroes of the Breton cycle. Loutish, self-loving knights, and desirous, predatory damsels parry blows and weapons in irresistible skirmishes: Merlin and Mélusine, Rodomont and Roland, Totoche and Angélique move with agility in a crescendo of situations that have little, if anything, to do with the Knights, but are great fun.
