Feu! Chatterton are renowned for the quality of their texts. Arthur, the singer, is inspired by Serge Gainsbourg, Léo Ferré, Barbara, Alain Bashung and Jacques Brel. Feu! Chatterton is a French group formed in Paris in 2012.

The stage name of Feu! Chatterton was inspired by a picture of nineteenth-century British painter, Henry Wallis.

First part of the Fauve ≠ concert in 2014, Feu! Chatterton are now better known and recognized with their look of dandies.

Inspired by Jacques Brel and Léo Ferré, but also by Television, Led Zeppelin or Radiohead, Feu! Chatterton proudly sing in French. Rock arrangements mingle with poetic texts, interpreted by the personable singer Arthur.

Revealed by the Francofolies de La Rochelle 2014 Festival, Feu! Chatterton is already considered as a great hope of the French pop rock scene.

A flamboyant quintet with poetic surrealism, Feu! Chatterton quickly became the new figurehead of a French-language music scene in the throes of an identity crisis. Inspired by their glorious elders Gainsbourg, Bashung and Christophe, these Parisian dandies combine the fine pen of the extravagant Arthur, a Rimbaud of modern times, with delightful instrumentations that marry subtle progressive rock, pop, literature and touches of electro. A writing of rare elegance and a melancholy libertarian lyricism that leaves in its wake a dangerously sensual whiff of absinthe.

Musicality, from the lyrics to the instrumental: this is what defines Feu! Chatterton in the first place. This group is made of young Parisians who were influenced as well as by the rulers of French music – like Jacques Brel and Georges Brassens – than Anglophone rock legends like Led Zeppelin, Cat Stevens or even Radiohead. The five musicians, who are the authors of « La Malinche », a top music hit that all radios widely broadcasted, became the 2014 revelation of French music. The lyrics’ poetry led them to take the name of the English poet Thomas Chatterton. With these “verses” come along guitars and bass to create a melancholic new wave mix. A young band not to be missed!

Dazzling revelation of the French music scene, the romantic quintet and their poetic surrealism are the first to admit the influence of some of their more illustrious elders, such as Bashung, Gainsbourg and Christophe to which they have added their own electric tones, in which rock and electro collide. Their astonishing libertarian and melancholic lyricism blends styles ranging from post-punk to new wave, as well as a touch of singer-songwriter ambiances. With their magnificent ambition to put poetry back in the spotlight, the group have made a huge impact on the contemporary music scene. With their unique fusion of rock, slam and literature, these five Parisian dandies will be lighting up an evening to remember.
