Michel Berger was a French singer and songwriter.

Michel Berger was a figure of France’s pop music scene for two decades both as a singer and as a songwriter for French artists like his wife France Gall, Françoise Hardy, and Johnny Hallyday.

He died of a heart attack at the age of 44.

Michel Berger began his career in his teens, and his engaging personality and youthful enthusiasm soon won the young singer an extensive following of fans.

But Michel Berger’s outstanding contribution to French music was not his singing but his prodigious songwriting talent.

When Berger died of a heart attack at the age of 44 he left a gaping hole at the heart of the French music scene, which many of his fiercely loyal fans believe will never be filled.
