Soulwax is the embodiment of the vibrant Ghent scene as well as of a certain electro-rock melting pot which particularly flourished in bootleg form: at the time Soulwax was called 2manyDJs and offered up what were without a doubt the kookiest DJ sets in history. Soulwax has allowed the Dewaele brothers to give free rein to their penchant for Belgian rock since 1996, before being caught up in their electronic DNA which in true Ghent style saw them remix their own cult album Any Minute Now into Nite Versions. ‘Why stick to a single dish if you can try them all’ seems to be the ethos of Soulwax, which most recently composed the stunning soundtrack to the film Belgica, incorporating at least fifteen different musical genres.
