Biography | |||||||||||
The Chemical Brothers are an English electronic music duo originating in Manchester in 1992. Along with The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, The Crystal Method, and fellow acts, The Chemical Brothers were pioneers at bringing the big beat genre to the forefront of pop culture. In the UK, they have had five number one albums and 13 top 20 singles, including two number ones. Continue Reading · From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This duo of English electro magicians have been performing in British clubs since the nineties. The Dust Brothers became Chemical and with the likes of The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim invented a completely new sound: the big beat, one of the missing links between big rock sounds and electronic music, which was by now on the rise. The infusion worked and soon the whole of Europe was vibrating to the complex sounds and the thick rhythmic layers of the Chemical Brothers. Twenty years later, these doctors in the art of grandiose, thundering shows have established their status as icons and continue to astound with their visual and sonic performances, the sort that have the power to transform a grassy meadow into an open-air dance-floor. 1992 was an exceptional year for the city of Manchester: Eric Cantona was crowned there in the euphoric setting of a green rectangle, and Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons formed The Chemical Brothers, a big beat phenomenon that started by shaking the walls of the mythical Hacienda before swaying those of the rest of the world. Expanding on a mad digression called “Madchester”, these sound brothers have been spreading from their Northern England city a novel alloy of electronic acidity and rock incandescence composing the substance of hits as explosive as « Hey Boy Hey Girl », « Block Rockin’ Beat », « Star Guitar » or « Galvanize ». These Manchester-born musicians had already shaken Rock en Seine to the core in 2004; now, they are back with new, highly unstable formulas. |
