Biography

With Matt Berninger’s rich baritone voice, set to dark, melancholic, complex music, inspired by Leonard Cohen and Joy Division, The National are well equipped to send shivers down our spines.

The group, formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1999, saw its reputation soar with the release of “Boxer” in 2007. Taken from this, their fourth album, the track “Fake Empire” was even used in Barack Obama’s presidential election campaign. The National also contributed to the soundtrack for the hugely popular TV series, Game of Thrones, with their composition “The Rains of Castamere”.

Their latest album to date “Trouble Will Find Me”, announces a more luminous phase, without losing any of the sense of inner turmoil that characterises the group….
