Biography | |
Fatboy Slim or Norman Cook, is an English DJ, musician, rapper, and record producer.
Fatboy Slim’s records helped to popularize the big beat genre which achieved mainstream popularity in the 1990s. Cook first rose to fame in the 1980s as the bassist of the indie rock band The Housemartins. After the band split, Cook formed Beats International whose début album spawned their signature hit, “Dub Be Good to Me” in 1989. Norman Cook then went on to join numerous other acts including Freak Power (1994), Pizzaman (1995) and The Mighty Dub Katz to moderate success. Norman Cook adopted the Fatboy Slim moniker in 1996 and released Better Living Through Chemistry to critical acclaim. Follow ups You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby and Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars, as well as their associated singles including “The Rockafeller Skank”, “Praise You”, “Right Here Right Now” and “Weapon of Choice” were also met with positive reviews and commercial success. Norman Cook has been also responsible for successful remixes for Cornershop, Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called Quest and Wildchild. In 2008, Cook founded a project called The Brighton Port Authority. Vigorous and wise, Fatboy Slim’s music is a dance machine for grown-ups. Known as a key figure of the electronic music scene, Fatboy Slim is a raucous blend of electronic, dance and big beat. The English DJ known by many other scene aliases spawned widely with great hits such as Praise You, Right Here, Right Now, as well as The Rockafeller Skank. His music has made millions of fans dance since the 1990’s, and he’s just replicated it by releasing Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat in 2014. What we can be sure of is that these same words will be applied during his live on Friday night. The concert will definitely blow the crowd’s mind with a stunning visual show! Good session! Enjoy! |
