The most globe-trotting of French artists. But not the sort that jumps from plane to concert venue to plane. When Lavilliers dumps his suitcases in a place he likes, he hangs around to soak up the atmosphere and bring a bit of it back with him. Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, the man from Saint-Etienne has a weakness for, an osmosis with the Southern hemisphere: Sertao, Trenchtown, heat, sweat, Stand the ghetto. Lavilliers’ music hopped on to the World Music train well before it became a band wagon.

REBELLIOUS ROCK CHANSON
A free thinker and a champion of lost causes, Bernard Lavilliers has been delighting audiences in the French-speaking world for 50 years with his committed lyrics and his libertarian poetry. Enriched by his many travels, he summons the muse of rock in a flamboyant 21st album on which he collaborates with Feu! Chatterton, Florent Marchet and Jeanne Cherhal. Collaborations that contribute to poet Lavilliers’ status as one of those artists that manage to transcend generations. Between sentimental ballads and protest songs, he wields his pen with inestimable class. Who could refuse 5 minutes au paradis?

Freethinker and defender of lost causes, Bernard Lavilliers has been singing his committed lyrics and libertarian poetry for 40 years. This tireless globetrotter unremittingly mixes lyrical song, rock, poetry and world music. At 67 years of age, the singer from St Etienne released his 20th album, “Baron Samedi”, at the end of 2013. A recording strongly influenced by a trip to Haiti and bearing the imprint of poetry by Blaise Cendrars and Nazim Hikmet. He’s “On the road again” for an enthusiastic reunion with his ever-loyal followers, an audience that adores the 100% committed rock shows of this unrepentant hothead. An evening of swing guaranteed, between bossa nova, world music and reggae.
