INDIGNANT CHANSON
Cyril Mokaiesh looks at his epoch right between the eyes. Austerity, Europe, terrorist attacks, the extreme right. A heavily charged Programme for one album. But what else could he do? For Cyril writes in the city, this tarmacadam jungle, this complex society, which he observes, sometimes with a contemplative eye, sometimes critically. With his feet firmly on the tarmac, and his head rooted in reality, he finds the right words to describe the world and current affairs. Is he sombre, this indignant French singer? He certainly displays a healthy anger against the current world order, that sounds like Brel without the rancour, like Ferré without the slogans, like Dylan without the mist.
